Summer is all about being outside and enjoying the warm weather with family and friends. Try building your own backyard obstacle course for a fun and creative way to get everyone moving. Set up the following 10 obstacles and complete them in this order:
Jump rope. Set a timer and jump rope as fast as you can for 30 seconds.
Grab some sidewalk chalk and draw your favorite hopscotch board on the driveway. Complete the board 3 times before moving on to the next obstacle.
Activity Cones. Set up 2 cones 20 feet apart and sprint from one cone to the other 4 times.
Hula-Hoop. Get your whole body moving by putting a Hula-Hoop around your waist, and “Hula-Hooping” for 10 seconds without the hoop touching the ground.
Pool Noodle Hurdles. Prop pool noodles on 2 overturned buckets and jump over them before going to the next obstacle.
Balloon Toss. Blow up a balloon and toss it around for 30 seconds without letting it hit the ground. If you are a little more daring, you can use a water balloon!
Bag Hops. Put both feet into a large burlap sack and hop to the end of the yard and back.
Ladder Runs. Place a wooden ladder flat on the ground. Run the length of the ladder as fast as you can by stepping between each of the rungs. If you don't have a ladder at home, don’t worry! You can use painter's tape to create the rungs.
Egg Run. Put an egg on a spoon and walk from one end of the yard and back without dropping the egg. (You must start over if you drop the egg.)
Cool off with a run through the sprinkler before reaching the finish line.
Most of these items can be found around your home so take a look around! If all else fails, take a walk through the sporting goods department at your local department store or go online to find the items listed.
